Q: Your tenure is impressive! What has kept you in the recruitment industry for 18 years?
A: “I really like being able to help people solve problems. Whether it’s an employer who doesn’t have a physician that their community needs, or a candidate who is looking for a better opportunity, I want to solve that problem for them. Listening to the parties, being creative, reading between the lines, and coming up with solutions is very exciting. It requires critical thinking, which is something that I enjoy.”
Q: What’s one piece of advice that you would give to your fellow physician recruiters?
A: “Listen very carefully to what someone NEEDS you to do to help them. You might be thinking, “If I was them, this is what I would do,” and that is not how it works. Everyone is different, so being a good, thorough listener is the main element that will help you to be a lot more effective in your job. Find out what their position is, what issues they’re facing, and try to learn what excites them!”
Q: You’re very passionate about your work! Now let’s mix it up and talk about another one of your passions: music. If you could only listen to one band for the rest of your life, who would it be?
A: “This is a REALLY difficult choice. It’s almost impossible to pick. I would probably say Outkast! The runner-up would be Soundgarden.”
Q: If you could be any animal, what would you choose and why?
A: “I would be an octopus because they are critical thinkers like me!”
Q: What’s your favorite hobby outside of work?
A: “I’d call myself an amateur horticulturist. I love taking care plants, and I have well over 100 of them all over my house! One plant is particularly special. My mom got me an amaryllis plant that I planted at home. They have been blooming for three years straight, and it brings me great joy and satisfaction to care for them.
