Did you know there is a direct correlation between community service and feelings of joy and gratitude? That’s right – volunteering literally makes you happier! With our Curare Cares volunteer program, our company is inspired to empower the Bloomington community, and make a real impact in the lives of others.
To show our support, we partnered with Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization that builds affordable housing for Bloomington families in need On Thursday, June 6th, several Curare employees worked on framing the walls of a brand-new home in the Cedar Chase Neighborhood. This fantastic day of fun was spent working outside together for a good cause.
“It was awesome to help with the build! We had the opportunity to do something out of our comfort zones that will change a young family’s life forever,” says Kevin Boas, Senior Placement Specialist and Curare Cares volunteer. Not only did our volunteers have the opportunity to make a difference and work together, this project was also a great chance to learn how a house is built.
Home is where the heart is! Curare knows that safe, affordable shelter plays a critical role in the quality of Bloomingtonian lives. “Working in conjunction with others for Habitat for Humanity is some of the most rewarding labor I’ve performed,” writes Controller and Project Coordinator, Christina Divine. “At the end of the day you are tired, hungry, and proud of the work that you accomplished in the effort to help a family build their home.”
They say that acts of community service spark feelings of accomplishment, joy, and appreciation. We are grateful for every opportunity to give back to our community. The chance to work as a team and make a difference has boosted our company spirit, and has given us a new platform to do what we do best: create positive change in people’s’ lives. We are excited to take on our next volunteer project!
