Pros of raising a family in Indiana: For many physicians this is a major concern with relocating. Indiana is a fantastic place to raise a family for a number of reasons. The cost of living here is low, and a large family house with a nice backyard in the suburbs is about ½ the price of East Coast suburbs, and about 1/5 of the equivalent house in California, allowing more money for savings or a stay at home parent. Indiana has lots of grassy parks, big back yards and beautiful state parks to enjoy. Located right in the middle of the country, it’s convenient to visit family or take trips anywhere in the country. Indiana is generally safe, with friendly communities compared to other geographic regions. Plenty of big city access- many Hoosiers live in suburban towns or commuting distance to cities including Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Cincinnati, Louisville or Chicago. Many of the rest live in college/university towns such as Lafayette, Bloomington, Muncie or South Bend. Having access to great city amenities and fantastic higher education options in state is just one more perk on the list for Indiana!
